Dr. Boelker of Leipzig &as gone farther than Androcles, who remov«4 a thorn from a lion's foot. He has removed a lion's eye. The operation was performed under an anaesthetic.
The lion's eye had been so badly damaged in a fight with a tiger that it was feared tie lion might lose its life un-lesa the eye was Temoved. Dr. Beolker did it. The animal mever stirred during the operation, an<l is now weld again. '
