ST. JAMES'S CHURCH
A special meeting of Parishoners of ■St.. James's Church-was.held on Friday evening last for the purpose of electing a people's church'- war den to fill the vacancy caused through the death of Mr. F. C. Tunley . Archdeacon Hansell, who presided, moved a vote of condolence with, the family and placed on record the hig-h appreciation of the services of the late church wai'dou. This was. carried in silence : The chairman pointed out that the election of the people's warden was the highest office It was within the powers of the parishonors to make. The pffiee was a very important one and <he called on the .meeting.for nominations. Mr. K. G-. House was elected to the position without opposition. Mr. House said that ho had agreed to accept the position on the condition that ho was relieved of some of his lay reading duties as hs considered that the church wardens should spend as much of their time as possible at the pariah, church. • 1 It was announced by the vicaT that a new "Parish News" had 'been started and he asked that the parishoners would support it. The organisation for delivery was not yet .complete but he hoped to nave a .band of 30 ladies who •would deliver it each month and to at the same time enquire into the needs of the parishoners and making reports to the clergy.
