SIR J. G. WARD

THE PASSING OF A GREAT MAN

"NOBIAT DONE HIS DUT^T'

MOURNED BY ALL SECTIONS

The passing away of Sir. Joseph Ward at an early hour on Tuesday. morning, removes' from our midst a man of outstanding ability and a great Statesman; His life was devoted to the welfare of his country and was a blessing- to mankind. As a young man he entered politics and rapidly gained distinction,, and was always a prominent figure in the affairs of the country. He made politics his life's work and so ably did he carry out his duties that his name is honoured and revered in every little town and hamlet in the land. His life has been a strenuous one, the guiding principles being his love for his fellowmen. During his long Parliamentary career he has. passed into law, measures that have raised the standard of life and made the path of the people easier. To-day thousands will mourn his death and bless his memory. He was a fine courageous figure that never admitted defeat. His cause was the cause of the righteous and he has now entered into his well earned rest.

The people of the Hutt Valley will join in these expressions of sympathy to the bereaved, and will mourn with the whole country in the passing- away of the greatest statesman the country has known.
