PLUNKET DANCE.

Tho Plunke** Society's dance, which took place in the King George dance hall on Tuesday, June 10th, was in every way a anost sueeessfiil and delightful affair. The artistic, decora-, tions, for whicii Mrs Marchant, Mrs. Marshal!, Mrs. Salmon and Mrs Moore were responsible, /were of festoons of lycopodeum and the effect, in contrast with the white walls, was most delightful. The Star Orchestra attended' and Mr. Meadows carried out the duties of M.O most satisfactorily. During the evening Miss Vadmai Spilier and Mr. McGregor gave a most t-hTilling exhibition of "The Skaters' Waltz." Miiss Spilier, in her slate-green tulle frock, reaching to the floor at the back, red sfaoes and red and mauve roses on, heT shoulder, might have been* an earlyVictorian picture and her graceful dancing was just as suggestive of t-hat era. Mrs. Tosswill, assisted by Mrs. Martin, was in chaTge of the supper. Bowls of pink chrysanthemums shading to mauve and ; pink and mauve streamers gave the six-pper-room a particularly soft and inviting appearance. TSae chaperones for the evening were Mrs. ] Hunt, wearing black lace; Mrs Earnshaw in Mack lace over green charmeuse, Mrs Bennett in- maroon mari<ette and Mrs Ewen in black majiette. Mrs S. Hoggard (tiie society's secretary), was wearing a frock of figured ninon and gold embroidered georgette and also present were Mesdames G. Cooper, pink georgette; Grieg, scarlet tulle; Clapburn, pink georgette; Sal: mon, Hack satin; Mar.tin, pale blue georgette; Hofabs, black lace; Phillips, black lace; Hardcastle, brown and blue ninon; Eainey, black net, satin frills; Norman, green tulle; Marchant, black lace and silver; Hay, black lace; Olimie, silver beaded frock; Meadows, black beaded frock; and the Misses Bishop, pink taffeta jßroderick, floral georgette; Olphert, green taffeta and gold; Hunt, floral ninon; Meadows, green georgette and gold; Robinson, pink satin; B. Welch, blue eharmeuse and net}-A. Adkin, apricot chaTmeusej D; Adkin, pale green eharmeuse j Dudley pink charmeuse. Amongst tie gentlenxent present were Messrs Ewen, Grieg, Hardcastle, Bishop, Churcher, Cooper, Climie, Hay, Berry, Skelly, Petrie, Phillips, Rainey, Moore, Bagge, R. Hunt, Drs. Bolt and Marchant. , The success of tlhe ball was dive in no small degree to the efforts of two members of the Advisory Board—Messrs Robinson and Bennett. -
