" SENIOR "A"The game on Hutt No. 1 laat Saturday between Hutt and University resulted in a win foT the local men by two goals to nil. The game was fought cv-, kd»nly by both, teams on a very ss! ou ground,. In the first spell no si'ori; v>aa registered there being nothing to pick between the teams. In the second, half Hutt were ou the offensive most of the time. A. Smith was the i'rst to open the score after a nice combined movement by Hujfct (foirvvaTdM Varsity tried hard to equalise but found Butt's defence too strong. Hoare added another goal to Hutt'b account not long after. The. final whistle sounded with Hutt stili attacking strongly but no further score resulted. Mr. "W. A. Scott aibly refereed th*e game. Hutt were wititoout the services of Upton and G-wi'liiam whose places were filled by two old timers namely A. Smith and J. H. Slater, Who, considering their rawness, played a sterling game. Smallwood and McLeod had a day off form. Lusty at extra full back was at the top of form. "Kris.team should go far this season if it can manage to keep the services of A. Smith w.ho seems to supply the missing link in the forward line.. SENIOR "B"—A TEAM. The Senior "B" A Team journeyed to Krllbirnie last Saturday to meet V.MC.C.A. Hutt had the advantage throughout. From the opening bully play was taken to Y.M.CA territory and the Y.M. goalie was kept busy for a period. He was very safe and it was some time before h:e was beaten by Judd who followed in on a shot by Atkins and got the ball on the rebound from the goalie's pads. Hutt 1, Y.M.C.A, 0. Play was even for a period, then Atkins scored for Hutt. Hutt 2, V.M.C.A 0. The spc4l ended shortly afterwards without alteration to t!he score. Hutt still had the advantage and it was not long before Mathews and Judd added" to Hu.tt's total. Hutt 4, V.M.C.A 0. Up to this Y.M. found the Hu.tt backs solid, but the defence slackened and from a penalty corner Y.M. opened their account. Hutt 4, V.M.C.A 1. Hutt returned to the attack and Matthews found the net again. Butt 5, V.M.C.A 1. Hutt were attacked strongly when time was called, but there was 'no alteration to the score, and the game ended Hutt 5, V.M.C.A 1. Mr. Mclvcnzio was an efficient referee. The local forwards combined better in this 'game tfran the previous one. Having the full half line behind them gave them more confidence. The left were combining very well and the majority- of the goals came from that quarter. Still, they were a 'little selfish. At ' times the centre and ' right were unmarked and the score would have been greater, had the ball been sent across. The V.M.C.A goalie played a game "out of the. box," bringing oft" some fine saves. The halves and the three full backs proved a stumblingblock for the V.M.C.A forwards. SENIOR " B''—B TEAM The Senior B's defeated Wesley on the local ground by 4 goals to 2. Mr C. Harvey was the referee. Playing at Karori, Hutt managed to I gain tiieir first win this season by de- ! f eating Wesley 4to 3. Tlie Hutt team, on the whole, played very well but at the end their play became rather ragged The Hutt full backs were not all they should have been. It is hoped that the juniors will be able to field a full team next Saturday as they will be playing on their awn ground. THIRDS. The Thirds aso secured their first win this season by defeating Varsity B at Kilbiraio, by 2 goals to 1. Penhall and McDonattd scored for Hutt. The boys are deserving of every praise as tihey started -with, five players against Varsifty's eleven. Their nutnfber increased to eight before the-, spell.' That's the spirit boys; stick to it I The local club had a field day last Saturday all five teams registering a win. '' Full Back eongratuflSatea thsem on their fine performance.
