The Hutt Valley Chess Ghib flraLd its weekly meeting in the Wesleyn- School room on Monday evening. Par.t of the time was'devoted to a general meeting. •Mr. Wingham presided and there was a godd attendance. The subscription to the* ciliuib was fixed at 12/6 for igentler men and 5/- for ladies. A Games Committee was set up consisting of Messrs Meek, Hignett and Jamieson, to taibulate the play of members preparatory to starting a ladder for the club. It was decided to open a bank account to be operated by the secretary and president. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr F. K. Kedling thanking Sum for his handsome donation of a set of ehes&men and board to be played for in a handicap tournament which will »be commenced at an early date. After th» business had been disposed of the members settled down: to play and a most enjoyabtk) evening was spent over the c-hess boards.
