JONAH'S WHALE,
. A piece of ambergris, ■weighing 24 ozs., was picked up on the West Coast recently by Mr. G. Arkie. A feature of the find is that the Jotter J is clearly defined on one side beside other markings of various designs. Mr. Arsle advances the theory, to explain t<he freak, that the embergris came from the whale which swallowed Jonah. While so imprisoned Joua-h hit upon the" plan of -cqimnunieatinig "has plight to the outside world and sent forth a message in Hebrew or heiroglyphic characters, which has been tossed ftoout on t>lic brimy for ages, to finally find, a resting place on the West Coast. Anyone' acquainted ■with Hebrew' or ancient -languages may be able to decipher the markings, and Mr.. Arkle will be pleased to show "the find." to anyone interested. We understand it is Mr. Arkle;s intention to send it on to the museum for exhibition in preference to turning it into, ready cash. -—Waiivku News.
