LOWER HUTT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
A well attended meeting of tthse Executive of the Lower Hutt Chamber of Commerce was held on Monday evening Juno 2nd. The president, Mr; A. J. Andrews presided.
It was decided to arrange for a public meeting at an early date to discuss the proposed new telephone service and to endeavour to -persuade t>3ie Post and Telegraph Department to considerably reduce the charges for Wellington phones pending the installation of the new system. The Petone Chamber of Commerce and the meaixljeirs of the Lower Hutt. and Petone Borough Councils are to bo invited to co-operate.
A deputation from the Lower Hutt and the Petone Chamber of Commerce will wait on the Engineer GeneralManager of the Hutt Valley' Power Board to discuss the question of shop lighting and the new scale of ed'^ctrical charges.
The Executive is conferring with the manager of the Bus Transport Service with a view to arranging a better service into the town* from the outlying
districts
It was decided to invite the members of the Petone Chamber of C onion er.c:e; also the Mayors and Councillors of. Petono and. Lower Hutt to a meeting on July 7th .when Mr. MeGowan, t>he president of the Weillington Chamber of Commerce will give an address. • ..
It was decided to circularise the business and professional people of the town to make an effort to get mofe general support from those interested, in/'fehe development of business interests in the town.
