In response to representations from Mr Waiter Nash, M.P., that work should be put in hand in proximity to the Hutt Valley to enable marrieoj workers to reach home at week-ends the Minister of Public Works replied on May 23rd to say that thirty men had been sent to the Wairarapa that morning, and that arrangements had been made to place an additional 300 men from the Wellington district—l3o to go during the piesent week and the balance as. soon as the camps have been erected.
