WANTED—A GRANDSTAND
In our'editorial.columns a few weeks ago we referred to the deplorable lack of seating accommodation on our Recreation ground. The subject has proved to be one of great interest to all patrons of the various sports. The question that is being asked is "When is something to be done about it." The football season is "going on and i&vge. crowds axe attending every Saturday to suffer to agonies of., only, seeing part of the game at a niaxknium of discomfort. It is safe to estimate that
a thousand people would be glad to pay for a seat each .Saturday, when the senior team is playing; so week by week a -great opportunity .is 'being* missed' to collect revenue which as avo. previously asserted would pay the capitotail cost of the seats by the end of the pTesent football season.
•On a recent s wet Saturday the conditions were particularly unpleasant and made such a deep impression on our artist, that he too, t'hotjght '.'something should be done aibout it.'' Wo understand that many of our borough eoimci'llors are fully in sympathy with the
prpposa/1 and arc' keeping'it "steadily in view " in the hope that something will turn up to solve* the difficulty of
nnancc. Possibly there is some person or persons anvong us wiho would adA-ance the money at a low rate of interest in order to makb a name for 'himself or to advertise his particular brand of tea, ■chocolate or tobacco. On Saturday neoct there should be a record crorwd ait the benefit match and another opportunity wiil'l be* last of " collecting revenue to pay for this sbun'd business
