POULTRY INTERESTS.
A corner stone in the stnacture designed to raise "-poultry productions 7* to their proper position amongst the primary industries of the Dominion, was set up by tftie formation on Thursday last of the Wellington Provincial Council of the N.Z..Poultry Associiation.
Bepresentatives of over four/hundred poultry keepers were present ait tie inaugural meeting and included Messrs ■S. G. Batten, PaTapa^anru Poultry Producers' Cluib; G. Durrant, Levin Poulitry Keepers' Association; A, J. Machines, Marlborough Utility Poultry Clulb; A. E. Salisbury and C. Gibson Young, Weijingiton and SuJburban Poulitry Keepers' Club; J.Sclater, Wellington Poultry Farmers' Association Ltd; A. Strawbridge, Manawatu- Egg Producers ' Association. Mr G. S. Bates (President N.Z.P.A), who was elected to the chair, and Messrs F. C Br.own and I/. Cocker of the Department of Agri- ! culture, weTe also present.
Mr. S.Gr Batten was appointed hon. secretary (pro tern) and the meeting resolved itself into*a committee to draifit the Council's Constitution.
After the main points thad been discussed it was decided that the draft thereof should be sent to every Association of poultry keepers -in the distract for approval, to be returned to iflre committee for final conside«Eution on 28th inst. The approved draft was to be, submitted to t&e iCoturicil who would then proceed to elect officers for the ensuing year. . The district controlled by the tVellington Provincial Council includes the provinces of Wellingiton/ Taranaki, Hawke 's Bay, MarlboTouglh. and.lTelson. The Hutt Valley at present, comes within the area covered by t-lie We:llin'gi:oa 'and Suburban Poultry-kee|>ers/ Ci^il>.
