hours,
William Crook, who was found drunk in Cuba Street, Lower Hutt, was contvicted and fined 10/- ano; being a proliibited person was convicted and fined £1 for a breach of his prohibition order.
For driving a motor van at Taita in a negligent manner, Harry Holland, of Upper Hutt, was convicted and fined £4, with, court costs 16/ and., witness expenses 33/-.^ \
HAWKER CONVICTED

Thomas Henry -Johnson, was charged with hawking fruit in Lower Hutt without having a Hawker's license. Sergeant MeHolm said defendant had been refused a license in Wellington and v,-as found hawking fruit in Lower Hutt without a license. He was in the habit of going to a house and saying: "I've bought the fruit you ordered last month."
Defendant was convicted and fined £2 and -10/- costs. .
DANGEROUS DRIVING
MOTOR CYCLE SKIDS 103 FEET . Claude Henry Willis appeared to answers a ehasgo of driving a motor cycle in Wolmrn Eoad in a manner dangerous to the public. Sergeant MeHolm stated that defendant was riding his motor cycle along Woburn Road at an alleged speed of 35 ! "^ . to -40 miles an hour and collided with, a motor car at the intersection of Ward Street and Woburn Road. The motor cycle skidded 103 ft before striking the car. Mr C. R. Barrett, who appeared for defendant, said that what the Sergeant said was substantially correct. Defendant who was 19 years of age, was renewed unconscious for five hours after.the impact and could remember nothing of the occurrence. Repairs to his' machine cost him £30, and in view of defendant's financial loss and mental and physical suffering he would ask that defendant be convicted..and 'discharged on payment of costs. Taking -the circumstances into con- • siaoration the Magistrate agreed' with counsel and defendant was convicted and ordered to pay costs, £1. : LET HIM WORE t In a civil case counsel, for defendant stated that his client was at present in Masterton where he was working. Mr Rothwell, (for- plaintiff) : If defendant is working it might be just as well to let him work, as it is the. first time I have ever heard of him working.
