FIRE AT STOKES VALLEY
Late on Monday night last a fife broke out in a house belonging to Mr. Douglas Stewart, which had been unoccupied since Easter. Owing to the lateness of the hour there were few spectators though the presence of mist on the hills gave the flames a weird effect. Te cause of the fire is unknown. The whole structure was destroyed; leaving only two gaunt chimneys. The insurances weTe not available at time' of going to press.
