HARRIERS
HUTT VALLEY CLUB
Enthusiasm and a decidedly optimistic tone characterised the second, run this season of the Hutt Valley Harrier Oub, last Saturday afternoon at Hutt Park, The .sport appears to be flourishing and the party of 25 runners and eight ladj harriers present was a good indication that the Hutt Club is making progress. Three packs were dispatched under separate leadership and followed a five mile trail, which cut over from the Clubfe sheds to the Maori Cemetery and moved round toward Randwick Road, to circle round by the hills and return via Hutt
Park. A run in from the half mile mark; proved interesting and after a keen race Gdlchrist led the field home from Carmichael with Cutbush close up third. The ladies ' held a short run and more or lesstook things easy. In the list of new members who will be taking part in next Saturday's Novice Race at Hutt Park, Carmicliael appeal's to be a strong contender Others showing early form are Lamb r Anderson,;Morris, Ireson, Wilson, Cramby, Watt and Treanor. All members who are not eligible for the Novice Race will' participate in a short training run. On Saturday evening the lady harriers held a dance.at Epuni Schoolroom and from: all accounts it proved a huge success.
