EASTERN HUTT SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
T>he followng report will be presented at jthe annual meeting of the householders to be itteicUon Monday evening next:—
In presenting? its annual report .the committee feels, that there is no -outstanding feature 'of importance <to mentdonj. as the period under re view-was rioriiial in most respects.
'In the-matter of attendance, tLicomparison with the previous yerar is as ifollows:—^December,. 1928, i.oil 669; December 1929, roll elofeeil 634.

■■•■■-•The-:-annual-'school picnic .was held at Maidstone Park on' Friday, 21&t. February, the approximate attenda#c;o.> being 460 scholars and 160 adults... With all arrangements _well organised and frho Weather ideal, the event was considered one 1 of- 'the most enjoyable cvox /.'hold. The committee feels> however, t tot this is the occasion to remind hou "ehoklers that t-he voluntary contributions short of picnic expenses: to,'the extent^ of ..£24 and "had it- not-been fox fche fact that the committee held £I*B in reserve there would -have been a serious- Idea to face.. It must r be remembered that a' picnic of the character for : whioli ftShe scTioql is noted entails not only inuoli yjoliintary labour on bhe part of-; tile bommittee and friends but the aiScCißsity for more generous response oik the part of parents in the district.
,". The committee lost the services'of Mr. W: F. Pdnder who was- treaaitttF, owing to Mr. Ponder leaving the>'district. Mr. L. H. Wesley kindly aceoptpd the invitation to act as- treaanxex, wiiilst 'the vacancy on the eomtnlltte was.filled-:by Mr; W: Elsoin. :
