HUTT VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL
PARENTS' ASSOCIATION
The Elf th annual meeting of the Hutt Valley High School Parents '""Association was held on Btk April, Mr. Grimwood presiding over a good attendance of members. It was decided that the subscription remain at 2/6 for both parents
The secretary presented the following annual report which was adopted:—
The year's activities have been most encouraging and this in spite of the fact that our financial, membership is very much below what it was at the end. of our'financial year for 1929. "We commenced the fina'neial year with a bank balance of £128 19s 7d and after, having" paid: to the Bc&rd of Governors the sum of £142 9s 4d for school requirements, including the orchestra, also the sum. of £80 to tihe Baldwin Memorial Hall Fund j we have to-day a. balance of £11l 13s lid and from which it is proposed to < place a further £20 to the credit of the Memorial Hall, £70" to the Board .of Governors for immediate school requirement^ leaving a balance at the bank of £21 13s lid, a sum sufficient to meet all requirements before the annual concert.
The annual concert of 1929 was a wonderful success and realised a net profit of £81 Us lid the theatre. being filled to capacity and several turned away.
Tiie annual garden fete heldi tliis year again, by the kindness of Mr Reynolds in his gfdunds realised a net profit of £119 16sil0d.
At th» annual meeting of 1929 our financial (membership stood at 110, today it is 51 with a paid up subscription cotal of £4 10s for the year, as against £13 2s 6ti;last year, and'this in spite of the fact 'that Parents have again been circularised regarding the aims and objects of the Association, but this method of endeavouring to obtain members appears to have failed and it is hoped that the* incoming executive may be able to devise-some fresh scheme. .
With a school roll of 419 the present membership of the- Association discloses a state- of affairs that is extraordinary and points to a state vof great apathy on the part irf parents and if allowed to continue'siinifly' means the wrecking of your ABBWSi&tion* '
The following motions were adopted:
No office bearer to hold office for a period exceeding two consecutive years at any one time. (2) All office bearers to be parents of pupils actually attending the school during part of their lierm of office. That the principal be madie exofficio vice president in addition to those elected.
