ANZAC.
They left their sweetheai'ts ? 'homes and
friends, , To fight fche Prussian horde, Experts with pen and prunning hooks, But strangers to the sword.
They went to camp from farming work, From counters, desks, and runs, To daily drill, and gain so^e skill, With which to foil .the Huns.
They travelled many thousand miles,
Across the stormy seas,''' And proved their British blood and grit At the .Antipodes. v .
They braved the . dangers of the deep, Warships, mines, submarines, Nor thought of aught, but w-hat a win By brutal Germans means.
T»hey went to Egypt andL to Prance As they might needed be, They fought the Germans o£ the west Turks on Gallip.oli. ;
AustTalians and New Zealanders, The men from out way back, how they valued freedom when They caused the word ANZAC.
Thn let those who come after t»hem In times of stress look back, And imitate the deeds that gave This day its name ANZAC.
