At the Council meeting oh Monday evening the Mayor reported that £240 had so far. been collected in the district for the Chair of Obstetrics. We •have since learned that one lady alone has collected over £70 up to date.

The weekly ball competition of the Waiwetu Golf Club which was again keenly competed fox was won by B. Barter with a low score of 63 nett, the runner-up being E. F. Warnes wio, despite attention from the handicappers, followed up his score of 68 nett of the previous week with a similar card for this competition. Members are notified that the club house will be closed for the Easter holidays, but the links will be available for pay.
