RUGBY FOOTBALL.
MOERA CLUB
On Saturday the Junior team defeated Selwyn by 7 points to 3 after a very interesting game. Although, a little early in the season to expect first-class football some good movements were witness-
Ed and a try by D. Jones was the culmination of a really brilliant piece of combination. J. Tui potted an excellent goal from well out early in the first spell. On Saturday's form there is every indication that the team will develop into a really good side but as this can only be required-by .players putting in. plenty, of practice at' the gym, it is to be hoped that every available player of the team win attend at the Park at least one night a._week. At present there appears to be a shortage of Intermediate players and as a team has been entered in this grade it is hoped that a good muster at the gym will enable the selectors to pick a full fifteen. Prior to the game on Saturday M. Corkin was elected captain, of the Junior team and A. Brown vice-
captain,
The Fourth Grade team were to have met Selwyn on Saturday but the city team failed to put in an appearance. Supporters of the club are very anxious to see this young team in action, as these boys'sj^w promise of giving an ex-
cellent account of themselves in the championship this season.
The club wish to thank Mr Thos. Burns of Petone, for the donation of two handsome gold medals. These trophies are on view at Ben's Bookshop, Randwick Road. The. club also wish to acknowledge donations from the following:—Sir A. Roberts, W. Nash,>M.P., R. Clarke, H. Pickering, C. McEwen, R. Newson, H. F. Hadwell.
