"SO THIS IS COLLEGE"

A GREAT PICTURE.

Rah! Rah! Rah! And a couple of zippy Tigers for "So This is College" Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer new all-talking

comedy.

Sam Wood, who directed and co.--authored this sparkling collegiate picture has caught the spirit of youth and flung it into the microphone and cameras with a deft aim. M.G-.M scofes a perfect goal and has again set up a standard difficult for others to attain in

screen art. "*

The -catchy tunes, characterisation, and atmosphere of "So,. TMs Is - College '■' alone makes this film stand ihead and shoulders above any similar. stage theme and. the swiftly moving plot, climaxing-in a dramatic and tense football game, could never be even Temotely suggested by a'theatre presntation.

The M.G.M. college comedy brings to the screen a number of new faces — Robert Montgomery and Elliott Nugent of Broadway stage fame, Sally Starr, a new screen find, Cliff (Ukelele Ike) Edwards and a group of real college kids who cut capers all over the place.

Briefly, the story concerns two college chums, pals in everything -until Babs, the new college vamp, breaks up their friendship and team spirit. They fight it out on the football field, decide they are fools, and plunge into the opposing line to win the game for their dear old college.

Virtually all of the extra players in the film are college students from universities in and around Lbs Angeles. It is interesting also that the cheering sections filmed and recorded were tJie real rooting clubs-from the local universities and the -huge night bonfire Tally was shot under conditions of real collegiate atmosphere.

Patrons of the King Geoirge Theatre* should not miss this outstanding entertainment w-hen it is presented there on Saturday.
