"At the Electrical .Exhibition in the Town Hall last night, Marconi on Ms yacht in Genoa Harbour, about 10,000 mile* away, turned on the electric lifi'hts. We were present. There was tense silence wHen.iJ was broadcasted that at any moment the lights would flask out. Suddenly--there was a shout iig tlie hundreds of electric bulbs festooned from the ceilings • blazed out and the great hall was aflame. About a quarter of an hour afterwards it was announced that a message had been sent'to Mai-eoni announcing the success of thp_ experiment-, and that a reply had come conveying congratulations.
