In 1914 Mt Thompson left New Zealand with the Expeditionary Forces and saw service in Egypt, Gallipoli, Prance and Belgium and was (honorably discharged in 1919 after 4£ yeaTs' active eervice. During the eight years that he has resided in the Hutt he has made many friends and has taken an active part in promoting -t2ie welfare of athletics and other outdoor sports;
