OPERA v. JAZZ.

A unique form of entertainment is forthcoming from our local Dramatic and Operatic Society in the form of a ■concert under the above heading. The programme will consist of Grand OpeTa Selections, Operatic Ballets, Comedy Sketches, Jazz Singing, Jazz Band, Jazz Ballets, and a (host of enjoyable surprises. The public will be asked to vote on the style of entertainment they like best and the result will bo an-

nounced prior to the last item on tho programme. This is the first show of its kind in this part of tie world, and should prove highly interesting besides oifcTing splendid entertainment with the widest possible appeal. The concert ia being arranged as. a benefit performance for. the Society's funds, to enable them to carry out the excellent programme tihey have planned for the com ing season. All who have witnessed the previous productions -of the Hutt Valley Dramatic and Operatic Society knew from experience the high, standard and splendid quality of performance given, and this concert will show our talented company in an entirely new light. Singing, (solos, duets, choruses), dancing, elocution, instrumental, orchestral, and jazz items, also novelties and thumb-nail sketches,, comprise a programme conceived and arranged by Mr Assheton Harbord, the producer of the Society, a man whose wide' experience in all matters theatrical ensures the best that can be obtained in suchpeTr formances. ■'_.■' An interesting item in Mr. Harbord's professional career was his organisation of a touring concert company in Canade called "The Dominion Entertainers;" which -had representatives from South Africa, India, Australia, Canada and England, t'Eus -adequately living up to its name. With this company Mr. Harbord toured right through Canada from the Atlantic to the Pacific and back again. So, with his" experience, the public may rest assured that tho Opera v. Jazz Concert will bo full of the most appealing sort of entertainment, satisfying the most exacting of audiences.
