The final game in the Rinks Chem-pionship-was played laat Saturday when Muter, Pratt, Capes, Burgess (s) de':--feated Artfold, Spite, Broad, Shearer (s). Tie play was not of a very 2rigii order, Shearer's team failing very ""badly. With twelve heads gone the score was 17 to 5 in Burgess's favour. A sensational 6 on the next head brought . Shearer within striking distance of victory, but this team again failed, and.the game ended at the 19th head with the score 22—12. It was thought that Shearer's team, Slaving the more experienced play%rs, would walk away from the others, but the
steady play of Capes upset all.calcula^
tions. The winners, who are comparatively young bowlers, weTe heartily congratulated by their fellow bowlers on achieving the -distinction of being the champions of the club for the season. The final game in the Nomination Pairs was played last week and a very fine exhibition of bowling was witnessed. Ginger and Slinn played^ Broad and Shearer, the latter pair winning after a very fine game, the chief feature of which was the splendid drawing of Shearer? In the latter part; of the game, when things were going well with him he also showed up magnificent ly in his running shots. All the players played good'bowis.
A new problem has arisen, for the Selection Committee. Some of the gates leading into the city greens are raher narrdw. On Saturday last one
player from the Hutt, wro prides himself on this ample proportions, had difficulty in getting through, the gate leading into the green on which he had to play.' The sele'tJttnrs'-job is always a difficult one, and the new problem adds to their worries. Care 'will have to be taken in the future to guard against the possibility of a player not being able to play for Iris club for. the reason above mentioned.
