It will be rid ted that H. Watson lias the best average to date. He howeveT, has played three innings only. Ross is next.wit'i an average; of 57.12 for nine completed innings. This player has now scored over'soo runs for the season, as he has yet to be credited with his score against University, 47 not but; at the end of the -first day's play. This colt also scored over 500 runs iast seascm.; In addition to 3ris 3eores in.- club, this season, Ross collected over 300 runs with the Hutt touring team /at Christmas, including two centuries, and :&lso scored 83 against a Wairarapa teani- on Anniver«aTy day. Considering that he is not yet \2l years of ;age, his perform-• ances have beeji remarkable, and he [should make a name for himself in big cricket as he has the right tenvpera- ! ment for important matches. Biggar, BiTch, Lees, Warnes -and > McKenzie have all done well. MeKenzie and LWarnes are showing a marked improvement on last yearns-form. . In the bowling IVames has bhe besV average, having bagged 14 wickets &t a cost of 22.64 runs each. Congratulations to B. ,R. Ross upon j his selection in the felunket Shield team. Up to the time, of going to.press •Wellington had batted once, the Hntt colt getting into double figures. As fohis player is an opening batsmen and was selected to take 3>empsteT*s place, it seems that he should haye opened with Foley instead of going in second wicket down. ''■•■/■ . • . ,-
