Tie recent laying down of bitumen in a Hutt street,, necessitated' gravel being deposited in, dumps, -which proved a source of great entertainment to the small . boys in the vicinity, for they, after the manner of their kind, took the^ opportunity to indulge in a series of obstacle races, to the- great amusement of spectators —u-u-up, do-o-wn, bang! u-u-up, do-o-wn, etc. Amongst tihe onlookers was seen a group of per? sons of the other sex, and a£ considerably maturer years, and one of them was heard to sigh, '/Oh, I'd love to do that!" And then, with ~"decision," "I will—in the twilight!"
A Etatt iouseiwif c was re'eently much amused, on Tiding along one of its' streets, to see a girl—who was talking aibsortbedly to a , contemporary of the opposite sex—suddenly, throw up her arms, leap into the air, and fly as the wind, - exclaiming as she- flew, "Oh, I've left the tap running!" The spectator could not restrain a smile, as she recalled her own daily experience —of sudden,, but 'belated, recollection, of milk' »n gas, cake in oven, or. running tap, and trusted the scene she then imagined, was no morse than a flooded wasi-house or bathroom!
