The annual afternoon meeting of the loea'l club, is one of the nw)i?it popular meetings of the' year among town athletes, and We local) officials are leaving no stone unturned in an endeavour to make this year's meeting the best yet, With ifre New Zealand Championships at Wanganui on the following Saturday, the competitors will be at the top of their form and as tihe Htott Recreation Ground is one of the "best in the Wellington district, some very fast times should be recorded. The programme to be presented is a very comprehensive one and caters for every branieh of the sport. The ladies are particularly well cated for. In adtdition to two handicap races there will be a 100 Metres Invitation Scratch Race for a cup presented by Mr. A. 0. Stevenson, in which the local champion, Miss Kench, will be opposed byhalf a dozen of Wellington's best lady TOnners: The "Eric Riddiford Cup" for the 440 Yards E>lay Race will also be contes.te.d. . .
