SCHOOLS' SPORTS ASSOCIATION
HUTT VALLEY PRIMARY SCHOOLS.
The annual 'meeting of the above was held at the Hutt Central t School recently,, the President, Mr j. C. Burns, M.A., presiding.
. The annual report stated that the various championships had been won as follow:—
Cricket—Waiwhetu (Senior); Petone Convent (Junior). Tennis:—Pctohe West (Melody Cup), Petone West (Jenness Cup). Football:—Hutt Central
(Senior); Petone Convent (Intermediate); Petone West (Junior). Basketball:—rPetone "West (Senior); Hutt Central- (Junior). Athletic* Sports:— Eastern Hutt.
In the Wellington Provincial I/awn Tennis Association's Easter Tournament Jessie Burns won the Junior Girls' Championship. In the Wellington Primary Schools' Tennis Tournament Hutt Central won (the Walker and Hall Shield for most points (Boys' Singles and Combined Doubles), while Petone West tied for second with one championship—Girls' Singles. * Out of 10 championships—s Junior and .5 Senior—Hutt Valley schools won 6.
It was decided to hold the annual Athletic Sports on the Hutt Recreation Ground on March 14th.
The following officers were elected for 1930:—
Patron:1 Dr. J. W. Mcllraith. President: Mr. W. J. Melody. , Vice-Presi-dents: Messrs J. O. Burns and E. J. Harlend. Secretary and Treasurer: Mr G. B. Richardson. / Auditor: Mr. J. H. Finlayson. _ A special vote of thanks- was passed to Mr. Burns who had been President since the formation of the Association.
