BLOWER THE FAIRY.
Blower was a fairy Who got up with the sun, And o'er the meadow daisies He soon began to run.
He climbed the steepest hill-side, He trotted down the vale, A.nd whispered through the woodlands , A bright arid merry^ tale.
But growing ever stronger, , He shook, in passing by, The1 tassels of a wheat field, The treertops in the >sky.
And laughing loud and louder * To see them bending down, He crossed a reedy river
And reached a busy town.
The streets, were full of people, Yet cheekier he grew, .- - -■ And whistling round^each corner, He shouted "Who are you?.
I want some hats to play with!'' And, snatching off a score, He rolled them down the roadway For half a mile or more.
And .while the people shouted With anger or dismay, He only laughed, the.louder And hurried on his way.
At last, when from the hill-top He saw the setting sun, The rough and noisy fairy Grew weary yof his fun;
And on a bed of daisies /That crowned pleasant height, , . . We heard' him softly whisper; "I'm sleepy, folks . . *Good night!"
