As* the Council's representative on tho Petone -Technical School Bard, I would like to report to councillors that to-day is the first day of the opening • of the Technical" School for lay pupils with staff of 7.- lam very pleased . to report -^that we, as a Board, have received every assistance* towards the, / buiuding up of a £rst-class Technical School which should be second to none in the Dominion in tie next few years.

The facilities for education in the Valley have gone * ahead by leaps and bounds. We have only to look at our Secondary High School and see the advancement that has been made, ' and with the trend turning more to technical education, there is nox doubt the opening of the school will, with careful management, have a gxeat future before it. The Minister and ,the Department are prepared to give us-£elp towards making the school one that will be a credit to the district. -
