SWIMMING NOTES.

(By "Splash.")

It is with great satisfaction that I look forward to the Wellington Centre Championships to-night (Thursday). It looks 'as if the Hutt Club has come into , its own. - The Biddiford Baths are the, only ones in Wellington suitable for holding swimming carnivals, both from a spectator's point of view and from tiie swimmers.

These Baths axe a wonderful asset to the town, and a gift. It is now. up to the Borough Council and the ratepayers to supply the necessary apparatus for heating and filtering. With this plant installed it would make tiie baths a paying proposition. •

" SpiesV had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Davidson, of the Candy Filter Company, and had a long conversation with him, re the Baths. He tells me that these, baths could be made tepid for a medium cost. This is a nxatteT that the club should push forward, but without the support of the general public the Hutt Club can do nothing.

Now, returning to the Thursday evening's entertainment, a first-class ptogramme is before the public, including Championship events and Handicap events for both men and ladies. All the leading swimmers will be competing, including Norm Dowsett, W. Eyland and G-. Bix-Troc of the Hutt Club, as well as C. Claridge, J. Blakeiey, Dick Peliham, A. Baird and numerous ot&ers.
