We wonder how many.of our readers could tell us why the word -*' road" is so frequently used in our borough instead of "street" or just what lie difference is between the two; While dealing with this matter of street names, may we suggest ,that the .matter of house-numbering be looked into, as there are still a large number of houses without numbers, and to -tradespeople, telegraph messengers and postmen, this must frequently give <jause for delay. It would be well too, i;o eliminate the word "park" either from Park Koad at the southern end of the borough or from Park Avenue at the northern end, preference in the retention of the name being given to the one to which the name has longest been applied. It is conceivable that confusion may arise from the name Bata Boad which lies just beyond the eastern boundary of the borough and Bata Street which lies within the borough. None of the matters dealt with in this article are of great moment, but where so much has been done —and is still being done —to make oiir borough in every sense modern, 3wch matters only require to be brought before the Council either, by a eorpoTate body, an individual or through the Press to be brought into effect.
