FIELD-MAJOR AND MRS SIMPSON

There N was a distinct note Of goodfelliowship among Salvationists who assembled on Tuesday evening to bid farewell to Field-Major and Mra Simpson, who have been transferred to their new afield, at the Wellington Qity Corps. Amidst the strains of music Field-Major and Mrs Simpson were escorted from their home in Bolton Street by the Salvation Army Band> where they were met by' a large crowd, who afterwards filled the Salvation /Army Hall, where the farewell reception took place. •;. Among those present \yere the Rev. J. C. Loan •^Presbyterian), Rev. ,&.. J. James (Methodist), Ensign Smith (S.A..Lower Hutt)..A number of complimentary speeches, on tlie splendid'work performed by . Field-Major and Mrs Simpson, during, the year's sojourn in Petone were made by the following:—Mr Franklin (Y.P.S.M,)-, Miss Thelma Edwards, Ensign" Smith, Mr Pike (bandmaster), Mrs Francis, Rev. Loan, Rev. James, Mrs Jensen, Field-Major and Mrs Simpson suitably replied. The band played several selections and Miss Dulcie Baker (Wanganui), contributed a vocal "solo, and Mr G.~ Simpson and Mr. A. Pike rentleTed a duet. A dainty supper was afterwards partaken of, and many expressions of goodwill andj happiness were conveyed to"Field-Majt>r and Mrs. Sfrnpson, from all parts of the district.
