WAIMARIE CROQUET CLUB.
The Waimam Croquet Club was formed by Mrs W. T. Strand on 9th November 1922, Mrs Strand being the first President. The first official opening was on sth December on the Hutt Becreation Ground with a membership of 12. The club had one lawn with the annaal rent of £1/1/-. At a lateT date the Borough Council provided three
lawns at a rental of £22/-/- per ari--niijm, . ■ . ;•-... The club now has a membership of 34 playing and 49 honorary members and have three lawns on Riddiford Park; also an up-to-date, pavilion at an annual rental of £61/-/-. " The foundation members still in tiie club are Mesdames Strand, Savage, Kelly, Hughes, Gibson, Ext on, McDonald, Norris and Harry Parker.
The Waimarie club is recognised a«: being the most progressive club in the. Wellington Association, due no doubt to the energy and capability of the officers and committee—President, Mrs. Savagjs; hon. secretary, Mrs. Camertfn; •hon. treasurer, Mrs Murphyj committee: Mesdames .Strand, -Kelly, Nojris, Mouat (<;apt), Jones, Extdn^ Hughes *and Parker
