LOWER HUTT COUNCIL

The montlily meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough CouJicil washeldi on Monday night last. Present His Worship the Mayor and Crs. Allen, Atkinson, Cudby, itnight, Ransom, Whitton, and the clerk, Mr Jackson. . (

Tlie resignation, of Mr J. McCormack as poundkeeper was read by the clerk and accepted. Mr P. Casey, of the Central Hotel was appointed to the office.

Mr P. Casey of the Central Hotel was granted permission to erect a drinking trough outside the hotel, provided it is placed! in such a position as to be of no inconvenience to the public.

The Mayor brought forward the necessity of having a board erected in the pound with schedule of fees authorised to "be charged; by the Impounding Act..

Cr. WMtton proposed and Cr. -Knight seconded that , tenders be called for the painting ana erecting of a board with --■ schedule of fees thereon and that

the Mayor, and* Cr. Cudby be authorised to accept a. tender.—landed.

O. Allen proposed and Cr Ransom" seconded iliat tenders be called for the fencing of the drain in front of Mr i.M<kli ford's property, the fence to consist of one top rail and four strained

Cr Whitton proposed and Cr. J£night seconded that a notice be sent to Mr Riddiford to take down the fence obstructing Montague and Valentine Streets within 28 days and also a notice be sent to Mr Whiting to remove a simiJar 'obstruction iifc Griffiths Street.—Carried.. • . ' Cr. Allen moved that seven days' notice be •/given to Mr Biddiford to, have the branches cut oft' certain trees on his property which are overhanging the road and if not! done that the'-.Borough Overseer do the work mid charge him with it;- alao . that 48 hours' notice be sent to Mr Riddiford to remove the clippings, from the hedges which are now in heaps on the Fide.of the road; —Carried. The forenian was' instructed to provide the Council at its next meeting with a list- of all those persons who have neglected to clip their Ledges. Or. Allen proposed and Cr.
