The Petone Maori Variety Entertainers, received a most enthusiastic reception from the laTge and appreciative audience that attended the Sing George Theatre on Monday night. Tie proceeds are in aid of St. John .Ambulance Brigade. From tie rise of tire curtain until the conclusion' of the entertainment' everything ran smoothly and reflects credit on the stage manager, assistant stage manager, and Mr. G.

The programme was an exceptionally fine one,, and judging by the • applause which greeted each item, was thoroughly enjoyed.- The programme commenced .with a lna-rch "The IronDivision/ which/was splendidly reh-: ordered by the company *s orchestra under the leadership of Mr. F. Reid. The grand opening was a, scene at a Maori Pa^ and was well staged. The company sairg that beautiful Muori song "Hine E Hine," while the poi dance by the ballet was splendidly done B.nd reflected great credit on the girls and their leader, Miss Bfenda Simeon. Miss Mona Love, who has a ' wonderfully sweet voice, gave- a; splendid rendering of "E Moe Te Ba." TMs popular turn . was brought to a close with the Maori haka which was greatly appreciated. Mr. B. Norris received quite an ovation for his saxaphone solo and had to respond. The sketch "How to Catch a Girl" created much mirth and the different parts were portrayed by Sticky Inch, F. Forrester and W. Langridge. A very clever and dainty little dancer is Baby Clout, und for her toe dance she received a'grelft ovation and 2iad to respond to an enthusiastic encore. Nbho Toki who has a splendid voice and good,.interpretation, delighted the audience with his singing and had to respond again end againV T&e instrumental item was something new to Lower Hutt audiences and J. Collins, (mandoline)^ H. Clapperton ( (dulcimer), and T. Love (steel guitar) were accorded' a great hearing. Ida Adams gave c good rendering of "All by Yourself j in the Moonlight," arid Was assisted by the ballet who, danced Splendidly, j Miss Christiana Young, who possesses a rich and sweet soprano voice;, gave a perfect rendering of "Angus McDonald" and liad to respond. One of the hits b£ the evening was" the "Cup Tie" a concerted item which kept, the audience in fits of laughter. Jackie. Harris, a ,clever and .versatile^ little . artist, danced t&e Sailor's Hornpipe perfectly and'had to respond, giving as an "encore a mandolin solo "Colonel Bogey.*' The second part of the programme was opened by the Orchestra playing /'The Wedding, of the Painted Doll." Roberts) thanked all present for their attendance and referred to the splendid work performed by the. St. John Ambulance Brigade in Lower Hutt, who were ever ready to render service at any time and anywhere. They weTe always present where large crowds assembled and always attended sports meetings. • He commended to all e , the Brigaded First. Aid Course/ a know^ ledge of which was a great benefit to all. The Division had been successful in winning the S&Leld at Wanganui donated >y Dr. Crawford and-secured a clip, two seconds and two thirds at the Wellington competitions. He thanked the company for the splendid performance they had. given and for the. good work they were doing, .\ and moved a 'hearty vote of thanks' to the company, ■•which was carried. by acclamation. • After the performance thel company were entertained at supper by the Division, when Mr. Langridge, on .behalf of the company thanked the Division for tieiT hospitality.
