Tie Rev. Geo. W. Hunt, in ■■ declaring tie sand pit open, gave a ztuotst interesting address to the children i as to the formation of sand. Mr. Hunt jiiao pointed out to the adults present tfca. valued work the Association were doing for the school in t»le way of Taising the necessary finance to enable the school committee to better equip the school and grounds, for the benefit of tfce staff and scholars. Whilst the children were building castles etc., in the aand, the large number of parents present were invited to afternoon tea, in tfee Infant School. The Upper Hutt Municipal Band have a heavy programme ahead of them this summer in the way of public performances. -■*-.-,Amongst their many engagehttnts is 'a trip to Masterton on Sunday, November 17th, to assist at a Massed Bands' Parade, and an^evening concert. Any Upper Hutt resident who desires to'avail themselves of hearing the massed bands at Masterton will liave a good opportunity of doing so, as the Railway Department axe now running Sunday excursion trains, the ft-.re tor the return, trip only being about 3/6 from Upper Hutt. * * * * * Th.-i Upper Hutt School Committee have at last been successful in theirefforts to have a Dental Clinic established at the Upper Hutt. An intimation has been received by t»le Committee from the Member for the District <<jol.' T. W. McDonald), that a miTse will be allocated for duty at the Upper Hutt as from April Ist next.
