WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.

WAINUI-O-MATA BRANCH,

The Women's Institute, meeting was held in the Public Hall, and despite the continuous rain there was a very interested audience to listen to Mr. Robinson, Government Apiarist on a lecture on "Bee-keeping." Mr. Robinson brought with him equipment in order to demonstrate his views on the subject. From the fact that New Zealand had exported 2,500 tons of honey in the last two seasons, and that New Zealand honey prices topped the market price at Home, it was evident, said Mr. Robinson, that the industry was becoming both a successful and an increasing one. It was owing, he said, to the fact that New Zealand honey was so carefully graded that the prices were so satisfactory.

After a much, appreciated lecture Mrs Heathcote (president), proposed a vote of thanks to Mr. Robinson for his able

lecture

A dainty afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mesdames Wood, senr., J. Wood, Wright and Miss Wood.

The art of sealing-wax flowers was demonstrated by Mrs Boyes who brought dainty samples of this work.

Mrs Wood proposed a vote of appreciative thanks to Mrs Boyes for her kind demonstration.

The meeting closed with the enrolment of three new members, bringing the total to forty-six members.
