TOWN v, COUNTRY,

The Country team ran^put comfortable winners in this match by a margin of three tries. The pjbay was inclined to bo scrappy, although of an interesting nature. Of tsiose originally selected to play" fQr the Country team, Russejl, Tilley and Roberts (all of Hutt), and Parai (of Poruirua) .were unable, 'to play.- Of the two full backs Jarman was in the ibetteT form. The hast ■vnngiers were- MoLaughlin (Upper JStrtt), Parsloe (Johnson ville-) and" Ward (Selwyn). Chancy was in good form at centre, but Collinge, the Town centre, also played well. Feeney >vas the best of the five-eighths. There was little between" the halves, Money if anything, being the best of the two. Cathcart and Dowsett each had a 3pell at wing forward, both shining out in this position. Bill Peck was voted the best forward on the ground and thoroughly earned -his selection in . the Senior B"~ Reps for. this Saturday. Harris, Wood and Standidge also 'Appeared to advantage on the Country side. Pinkerton, Mitchell, Laws and Amadio wore the .best of the Town forwards. SMOKE CONCERT. This event has been postponed until Saturday the 7th September, it having tianspired that several club memfbers will be away in, Auckland with a "Work-s-hops team on Saturday "next, the night origirially set apart for the -"Smoko." The allocation of trophies for the Senior and Junior team will be made to-night when a full muster is requested of the committee and coaches. Members and friends of the Senior team foregathered at Mr. Burkes Central Dining Rooms on Wednesday last, when they were. the gu'es:ts of the proprietor. Tire evening was a most enjoyable one, all present thoroughly enjoying themselves, one and all expressing appreciation for the way the host looked after the wants of his guest's. Hutt have six representatives in the Senior B R>eps to play' against the»A's this Saturday.. May they all play up to form, and catch t-he sole selector's eye. Dowsett's ■omission is rather unfortunate. However, he will no doubt receive consideration, when the Colts team is selected. He is the type of player who will improve out of sight as the result of a trip away with a touring team. ;
