WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.

WAINXn-O-MATA BRANCH.

The monthly meeting of the Wainuioniata Women's Institute was held in the Pmblic Hall and proved to "be a very successful one. Lady Hunter accompanied by Mts. Powell came from Wellington and provided the afternoon's programme. As lecturer Lady Hunter took "Babbit Keeping as v Profitable Venture" for the subject. She showed that little material was required for this industry and with the initial cost of good stock a good income would be assured. The work itself was shown to be simple and interesting and indeed in all ways~ suitable for a side issue of a faimer. - Some of our members will take up this novel industry. As demonstrator Lady Hunter instructed in the arts of plastico work and in beat work. Very fine examples of these were shown. The members proceeded to make immediate use of their newly-acquired knowledge, and articles were begun under' Lady Hunter's guidance. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Dick, Jarrett, S'choles and Ryan, who served a dainty tea. At the conclusion a most cordial vote of thanks was passed to Lady Hunter, who now is a memlber of this Institute. The business" in connection with i&e next monthly meeting was1 then discussed and all arrngements for the visit of Her Excellecy Lady Alice Fergusson weTe completed. Musical honours concluded a -very pleasant and profitable afternoon.
