STOKES VALLEY.
At the annual meeting of householders there were about 45 present. The chairman (Mr. B. A. Eough), placed before the meeting his annual report "and balance sheet of the year's working, stressing the fact that the committee worked with zeal throughout the year and stated, that the contract for the new school had been let, and that the work has been started by the contractors.
Mr. .White, 6n behalf of the residents, stated that the committee had certainly done well in getting a tworoomed school for the Valley. The special fund showing a substantial .balance, speaks for itself. This |is being set aside for improvements to the new school grounds. . The Chairman thanked the residents foT the generous support whieh^.they had given through the year. Mr. B. A Rough t>hen thanked Mr. G. Young on behalf of the committee and residents of the Valley for his generousf~gifts of land. adjoining the school site which makes an ideal site of approximately four acres. * . -. The following were elected to the committee:— Messrs E. A.' Bough (chairman), J. A. Deer (secretary), E. A. E. Magforcl, F Wheater, J. Milne. . -
