OVERHANGING HEDGES.

Sir, —In passing -"along- the " Main Street, Lower Hutt the other day I. noticed two or three men cutting back a hedge that was encroaching on the footpath and it*: reminded me of the many hedges in ouxl town that nrgeatr. .ly need similar attention. Might I say that our Borough Council- seams most laix in the jnatter of compelling property owners to cut back their hedges to. the inside line of the footpaths. Some of them hang over:'to such an extent that naif, the footpath is obstructed. I thiak sir, that the Council is running a b*g risk in the matter .of allowing that sort of thing to continue. Should -xny pedestrian be injured in any way fwing to projecting hedges or branches, I take it the person ot persons so-?n-jured would hay« a-just claim against the Council. It is to be hoped ,nat some action will be taken in this toatter before someone gets hurt.—l am etc., - v PEDUSCTBIAN".
