LOWER HUTT LEAGUE OP MOTHERS.
The first meeting of the above League for the year was held last ThuTsday, when there was a very large attendance of members; and friends under the presidency of Mrs. H. W. Kersley. After the usual monthly business had been transacted the secretary presented the annual report, which gave'a resume of meetings held, of the various activities, and - traced the growth of the branch which at the end of the second year has a membership of 239. The financial statement was also presented, and showed a small credit.
General regret was expressed at the loss of Mrs. Kersley as president, her retirement being due to health reasons, and thanks were expressed to her for her wonderful work. She, however,
will still retain her interest as a committee member. Mrs Ernest Dawson was appointed president in^her stead, and Mrs J. L. Saunders' treasurer in place of Mrs. FraseT, whose removal to; Chrisfcehurch has necessitated her resignation. Megdames Barron, Chisholm, Jollands, Mason, Thomas, J. Mitchell, H. Mitchell, and Yates were added to the committee on account of the increase in membership. Feeling reference was made to the passing of one of the members, Mrs, Arthur Sail, since last session. The committee enters "upon its new year full of hope fox an instructive and interesting year, and sure of the loyal support of its menxbers.
Afternoon tea was served during the afternoon and. musical items rendered by Mesdames Dawson, Jollands,
and Burton. Mrs Clendon related
some of her experiences during her Tecent trip and gave a description of the various women institutions that she visited. . Members are asked to note that the next meeting will be on the second Tuesday, April 11th on account of the usual d?te being taken by the Flower Show. ■■■■-'.."' =, : : . As the result of a motorcar colliding with the motor-cycle he was riding: in tower Hutt about^6.ss -pan.i on; Saturday, R. H. Green, of Farnham Street, Mornington, sustained lacerated wounds to the scalp and shock. He was removed to the hospital i>y the Free Ambulance.
