NEW BAPTIST CHURCH ROOM

On a beautiful section in Puriri Street, Woburn, with a back-ground of native bush and looking out on to the public gardens, the people of the Baptist Church have almost completed a beautifully designed building -which for the present will be used, as a church and Sabbath School. Ultimately it is hoped to build a Church on the front portion of this site which in the meantime will be laid out as a garden. The building is of timber built on a concrete foundation and has casement windows and leadlights. Special attention has. been paid to details and though; simple in design, the fittings etc., are above the standard for similar work usually seen in such buildings. The inside finish is in oiled rimu, whilst the walls and ceilings will be of fiberous plaster. The main hall is 30ft x 30ft., with a platform 30ft x 10ft., on which the baptistry is built. On either side of the vestibule, which is 12ft x 6ft., are two, rooms 14ft by 10ft., which will be used as Bible-ela3S rooms. At the opposite end of the buildings is a room 9ft x Bft., which will be used as a vestry. The kitchen, which has) a measurement of 14ft x Bft., is fitted with sink, gas boiler, and a good supply of cupboards. The building has been designed to provide for the immediate requirements of the, church, both religious and social, until such time as ft is thought advisable to extend. During week days it will be used for the social activities of the young people of this growing district.

The building has been planned and erected by Mr. A. C. Stewart, of Dunedin, who has carried out the work entirely voluntarily, and the young men of the Baptist Bible Class have provided a great amount of volunteer labour. His Excellency the GoveAior-General has kindly consented to attend the dedication ceremony. Rev. R. Stewards, President of Central Auxiliary of Baptists Union of N.Z. will preside on Saturday, February. 16, at 3 .p.m. It is hoped that a large number of residents will attend as a very hearty welcome will be extended to all.

The first Sunday service will be held at 7 p.m.'on 17th inst., conducted by Dr. Nortlv principal of the Baptist College. .
