GAS BOARD

The monthly meeting of the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Board was held on 15th inst. Present: —Messrs W. G. G. Lodder, V. Jacobson, E. Hogg, W. G. Meldrum, S. Clendon, W. T. Strand, C. P. Brockelbank.

The Wellington Free Ambulance committee wrote thanking the Board for its donation of £5. —Received.

Messrs J. Duthie and Co., and Messrs Stewart and Lloyd wrote thanking the Board for its orders for steel mains.Beeeived. .

The Petone Borough Cbuncil wrote agpree^ng to a 20 per cent discount on water used "per meter. —Received.

Mr A. Leigh Hunt wrote offering" a second-hand boiler for the sum of £85.

The chairman reported having > inspected the boiler and finding it suitable for the Board 's purpose.

It was decided to give the chairman power to purchase. ,

The Gas Manager (Mr Appleyard) was granted leave .to attend the Gas Institute Conference to- be held at iWanganui at the end of the month.

Messrs C. B. Buxton Ltd., wrote advising the successful arrangement with the Distribution Loan.- —Beceived.

The Huttone Gas Sports and Social Club wrote-asking to be granted a holiday for the annual picnic.^Granted.

The Gas Manager reported that during the month 586 tons of coal were carbonised, gas manufactured 8,410,000 cubic feet, average make per ton 14,367 cubic feet. For the month 50 gas stoves, 5 caliphonts, 7 coppers, Vere installed.
