TRAMPING
Who of us does not look forward to Summer; long days that pass far too quickly in bathing, holiday-making, camping and tramping? Endless joys _can be had from the last-named pastime, tramping. There are numerous places in and around Wellington, where one can go, either by one's self or with a party. Up hills and gullies, camping here and there, tasting the real joys of life. To forget .the stuffy office and factory to roam through the bush, with nothing' louder than the trickling stream and the twittering of the "featered friends of the bush' disturbing you. Nature has a charm above all other charms, and we should take every advantage of what she has provided us with. Much benefit too, is obtained from tramping. It keeps one fit and healthy, and makes one forget the troubles and worries that frequents this life.
Many people are now beginning to see the advantages of tramping, and many tramping clubs have been, started, both in Wellington and Auckland. The Tararua Tramping Club is a -well; known Wellington one 7^ ajad its members enjoy some wonderful trips in every bit of available time they have. Ask them! After a hard week's work, to get away in the hills, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, is to them, life, real life.
Following tracks over rustic bridges, pack on back, beneath which tumbles the foaming, rushing waters from the mountains. Ferns clothe the banks of the mountain streams; ferns -of every kind and variety. Overhead fleecy white clouds, crown the picturesque scene; the air is filled with, the hum _of insects; the bell-like notes of the tui, peal across the gully. Yes, without a doubt tramping is life, joy and health.
