LEGACY FOR EASTERN HUTT SCHOOL.

A further instance of the practical interest of the late Mr. Henry Baldwin in the local school children, was supplied at the last meeting of the Eastern Hutt School Committee. A letter was received from the trustees of .the de- | ceased's estate, stating that a legacy of £400 had been bequeathed to the school trustees, suck money to be held in trust and the interest therefrom to provide an annual subscription to the school picnic funds. The chairman, Mr. W. V. Dyer, on behalf of the committee, expressed their great appreciation for the kind thought and generosity of the donor. It will be remembered that Mr JBaidwin took a very keen, interest in education in the valley and this practical assistance will be greatly appreciated by the parents and scholars of the school.
