HUTT RIVER BOARD.
j At the regular meeting of the River Board held last Thursday evening; Mr. W. ; T. Strand was unanimously, re-elected chairman for the ensuing year.
Mr. Strand thanked the members for again conferring the honour upon him, stating that as he had occupied^ the position of chairman now for nine years .he would have liked to have seen some other undertake the office, as he did not think it advisable for one member, to:v monopolise the position of honour for too long a period; he would like to see the honour go round. He was looking forward to the time when there would be no rates in the district for the River Board. This he believed would be an accomplished fact in a few years. The "board would soon, he thought, be able to carry out development work of great value to the district at no cost to the ratepayers. Mr. Strand paid a tribute to the harmonious working of the board, which he said was due to the enthusiasm and the thought that the members gave to the work. He trusted that the same good work would continue during the coming year.
