VALEDICTORY.
When the Wilforcl School was opened twelve months ago last October, Mr J. (3. Hiddleston was- placed in charge pending the appointment of a permanent headmaster. That position has now been tilled, and Mr. Hiddleston will relinquish control of the '.school at tihiß end of tlitt present month. His regime has been marked by a, period of VOL* qualified success, and he has by Jaa keen and efficient adininstration of the school work won the approbation of the children and parents alike. To mart their appreciation, the parents have determined that Mr Hiddleston shall not be allowed to sever his connection with the school -without some tangible mark of the high regard in which he is held, and he; is to be tendered a send-off in the school on Wednesday evening next. The children, also wiH say a formal good-bye that afternoon, when they will present him with a token of their esteem and good will. The Committee have the arrangements for Wednesday evening's function in hand and it is» assured that the parents will attend in large numbers to express their sense of the high standard to which Mr. Hiddleston has brought the work of the school. The social will commence at 8 p.m. Occasion will also be taken to welcome the newly-appointed heruhirastcr, Mr J. Finlayson (late first assistant master of the South "Wellington School and formerly second assistant at Petone Central), who has been promoted to the position.
