HUTT VALLEY SWIMMING & LIFE SAVING CLUB.
There was an. attendance of 60 at fhe annual general meeting of the Hu£t Valley Swimming Club held on the 15th inst., and if the enthusiasm shown can be accepted as an indication the Club should have an excellent season.
Officers were^ elected as follows: —" Patron, V. Riddiford Esq.; President, W. Strand, Esq.; Vice-presidents: Sir A. Roberts, Messrs H. Baldwin, H. Badson, E. P. Bunny, A. Mcßain, D. A. Ewen, J. Mitchell, A, E. Parkin, J. Foster, F. Campbell, A. E. Carver; Club Captain, Mr. V. N. Beasley; hon. secretary, Mr. J*. H% Monteith; delegate to Centre, Mr S. Cole.
In discussing the annual report and balance sheet the chairman, Mr G-. J. McNaught, remarked on the satisfactory financial position of the club and referred to the favourable consideration shown to the club by the Baths Committee and to the sterling work of Mr. Penhall, the custodian.
A motion was carried that the club records its regret that the full hour daylight saving would not operate this year and that it was hoped that the benefit of the full hour would be made permanent during the next session.
With a view to further encouraging the younger swimmers the secretary was instructed to make enquiries in regard to the cost of a shield for competition among the Hutt Valley Primary schools.
Five new members were elected.
The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair and to the secretary.
